Indian River County

Welcome to Indian River County! This county is perfect for someone seeking a quieter, more secluded area that doesn’t have large metropolitan areas. Downtown Vero Beach is a quaint area with boutiques, hotels, and ocean-side restaurants. The beautiful Indian River Lagoon is a prime fishing destination, as well as a great place to kayak, paddleboard, canoe, and home to some of the best scuba diving in the area.

The Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge is a vital nesting area for many types of sea turtles including loggerhead, green, and leatherback. Most of Indian River County’s beaches feature sprawling sand dunes and are home to many coastal birds including the great egret, wood stork, white ibis, and the little blue heron.

Formerly part of the Spanish Colony of East Florida, Spanish ships carrying massive quantities of gold and silver passed by this area every summer. In 1715, a storm sank seven Spanish vessels off the coast of present-day Indian River County. Many valuable artifacts including silver and gold were salvaged in the early 1920s. Treasure enthusiasts can be found along the beaches searching for buried treasure and casing the shoreline with metal detectors.

The people of Portside Real Estate Services have a deep and intimate understanding of the Indian River County area and are ready and waiting to share it with you!
