During World War II, the beaches along St. Lucie County were used to train, what is now, our Navy Seals. The Navy Seal Museum is a great place to learn about this elite military branch of heroes.

Ecotourism is a major part of the economy, with Oxbow Eco-Center serving as home to a variety of educational programs that will interest visitors of all ages. Among the many activities available are manatee observation during the winter months, bird viewing, and guided sea turtle walks.
